These two charming Sister Samplers were created in 1840. Their parents were Robert and Mary Tindale who had a large farm that did quite well. By the time the mother was 82 (dad passed away they still owned 135 acres employing 4 laborers and 3 boys. Roseannah Tindale never married and died a "Spinster". Her little sister Elizabeth married Charles Knapton and they had 3 kids. I will write more about their story in a separate blog post as there is a lot to report.
The Kit contains everything you need to complete both samplers
Chart for both samplers, enough Flower thread to stitch them both, and two pieces of 36 count Flax Zweigart linen cut approximately 14" x 16"
This design is stitched on 36ct linen with Ginnie Thompson Flower threads. Soft muted colors and a pleasing composition make them so charming, they almost have a touch of primitive.
There are no over-one areas so this sampler lends itself to linen or Aida.
Design Area
Roseanna: 143 x 173 which makes the sampler 8 by 9.75 inches on 18/36 count
Elizabeth: 137 x 173 which makes the sampler 7.75 by 9.75 inches on 18/36 count
Cut Fabric sizes include 3 inches around all sides for finishing should be for each sampler.
Use two strands of floss when using DMC and one strand when using Flower thread.
***Note the kits have been updated to 36 count Flax. They stitch up beautifully wit the flower threads.
