Selina Ellis 1860s Sampler Paper Chart

English or Welsh? The surname Ellis is Welsh name but her first name is not. Also the verse doesn't really fit with Wales. Some of the early Welsh samplers had verses, but the later ones did not. I have two Welsh Samplers, that are almost identical stitched  36 years apart. The earlier one has a verse and alphabet, the later has neither.
Selina was found in Wales and the flower urns are very Welsh, the roses not so much. It is difficult to say. Regardless, it is such a fabulous border on this sampler. I found several Selina Ellis from about 1828- 1840s form various places in England. It would be so lovely to know who she really was.

381 stitches wide by 381 high

28 count - design size is 27.25 x 27.25 cut fabric 33 by 33 inches
32 count - design size is 23.75 x 23.75 cut fabric 30 by 30 inches
36 count - design size is 21.25 x 21.25 cut fabric 27 by 27 inches
38 count - design size is 20.00 x 20.00 cut fabric 26 by 26 inches
40 count - design size is 19.00 x 19.00 cut fabric 25 by 25 inches

The pattern consists of a color image of the finished design, instructions, and a list of floss colors; A color & black and white symbol chart spread over several pages for printing. A single page of the pattern is also included.
