A gorgeous American sampler that is over 260 years old. Sarah was only nine years old when she created this beauty, that in itself is utterly mind-boggling. The sampler is mostly symmetrical except for a few flower stems. This could be stitched either way and is a personal choice. The original model was stitched with silk on linen and measured 13.25 by 13.25 inches. Judging by the design and materials used, little Sarah grew up in an upper-class home.

Two strands of floss are used for all stitches and satin stitches by the hand area of each little person. The satin stitches go over multiple threads, these are not little backstitches.
32ct Flax or Platinum Belfast Linen or 16 Count French Lace Aida would look lovely with this sampler.
