“Mary Elizabeth Leet, 1865” remains one of the most beloved pieces in my collection, a graceful American sampler that beautifully captures the care and ambition of its young maker. There was a photograph of a large mansion tucked away in the back of the sampler. I never figured out where it was and why keeping it was so important.
Reproduced faithfully from the original work stitched in 1865, this design features balanced symmetry, elegant lettering, and that wonderful Victorian charm. Every detail has been charted for today’s stitcher while preserving the authenticity of the original.
