A reproduction of an American schoolgirl sampler worked in 1848 at Mrs. Cooke’s School in New Hampshire. This charming piece reflects the elegance and discipline of mid-19th century needlework education. The original sampler, signed simply “LSC”, features a beautifully detailed bird surrounded by lush florals, paired houses, and delicate wreath cartouche, all arranged within a classic border.
The model is stitched on 36 count “Hazelwood” by Fiber on a Whim and worked using Belle Soie over-dyed silks by Classic Colorworks, giving the design a soft, antique glow and a wonderfully smooth stitching experience.
***The color symbol “d” Oatmeal Scone, in the bird’s wing only can be stitched in Belle Soie silk Plush Plum CCS 019 (DMC 3740) or in some charts that have the Plum color “P”, it can be changed to CCS 018 Oatmeal scone (DMC 3782). It is a personal choice if you want the front or back color.
The chart consists of color, black & white and single page graphs (22 pages)
