Jane stitched a charming sampler with folk art vibe. It has the colors of a Scottish sampler and all the initials throughout the piece hint of that. She stitched a beautiful border and many motifs. The alphabets we so often see on Scottish samplers are missing here. Jane did a remarkable job for nine years old.
A rare collector's item for collectors of antique textile art,
Size: approx. 12.50 × 10.75 inches
Stitched silk on linen with various stitch techniques,
Origin: Scottish, found in Rosewell Edinburgh, Scotland.
(not charted)
Condition:
The cloth is well preserved for its age of almost 200 years. It has one small hole at the top hem, some wear of the linen and staining. These do not detract from the overall aesthetic, but rather underline the authenticity and historical character of the piece. All in all in good condition.
