Harriet Mc Ewen Sampler Pattern 1830 Printed Version
Harriet Mc Ewen Sampler Pattern 1830 Printed Version
Such a beautiful English Sampler and very expertly stitched by the young lady at only age nine. The colors are faded on the original somewhat, especially the pinks. There are four alphabets, one row of numbers. The fourth alphabet is stitched in a four-sided stitch.
Design Area: 243 stitches wide by 323 stitches high
Stitched Area: 13-1/2 inches (34.3cm) wide by 18 inches (45.6cm) high
Fabric size: 20 inches (50cm) wide by 24 inches (61cm) high this includes 3 inches (8cm) allowance on all sides for finishing or framing.
The original was stitched in silk on woolen fabric. The material, like most in those days, was not an even weave it was close to 40ct. Measuring approximately 12 inches wide by 15.5 inches high. Using Aida is not recommended as there are several over-one areas in the alphabet.
The pattern consists of a color image of the finished design, instructions, and a list of floss colors; A color & black and white symbol chart spread over several A4 sheets for printing.
Thank you and happy stitching!
