Hannah Rider 1781 Sampler Pattern PDF
A darling George III sampler dated 1781 from Cumbria, worked by Hannah Rider. Several beautiful alphabets, numbers, and some imaginative animals are at the bottom. Hannah was a very accomplished stitcher. On the last page are times of the back of her sampler you can hardly tell it is the back. The soft pastel colors and pleasing composition make it such a charming sampler.
This model was stitched on 32ct Belfast linen and stitched with Belle Soie Silk thread by Classic Colorworks. See the image for thread colors and fabric sizes
Design Area: 125 stitches wide by 201 stitches high.
Use two strands of DMC or Silk. On larger count fabric I would only use one thread. The large alphabet can either be stitched with eyelets like the original sampler or all in Smyrna cross, or a combination of both.
This pattern consists of 18 pages of color and black/white charts.
