Betty Ormandy stitched a very darling sampler featuring what looks like her beloved pet. Included is a rather morbid verse which is quite the opposite of the happy feel the sampler has. However, these types of verses were quite common in the 1800s. The verse is omitted in the adaptation to make all the elements fit and make the chart accessible to all. The restitch is longer than the original which was stitched on uneven weave linen.
The model was stitched on 40 count Vintage Country Mocha linen using Classic Colorworks overdyed cotton. Using one ply of floss. Adjust thread usage and ply accordingly if using a different count fabric. I can be stitched on Aida or linen.
Stitched Area: 295 stitches wide by 319 high
There are13 different colors of Classic Colorworks over-dyed cotton threads. Multiples of some colors are needed.
