A Magical World in Silk and Gauze
Caroline Berry stitched this extraordinary sampler in the late 18th or early 19th century, depicting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. An English sampler worked in silk on gauze, it is a testament to the imagination and skill of its maker. The date has been deliberately removed, perhaps a touch of vanity from Caroline herself.
