Ane Margrete Olsdatter 1810 Sampler Pattern
Ane Margrete Olsdatter 1810 Sampler Pattern
Ane Olsdatter is a sampler from Norway. The original is stitched on bright red linen with silk and cotton. It is not clear if Ane stitched the sampler in 1810 or if she is letting us know it was her birth year. Her sampler lives at the Cleveland Museum of Art.
I was not as daring as Ane with my fabric choice as it is difficult to see the actual red fabric when shopping online. Finding one that was not too orange and not too berry was not happening. I hope some of you will however give it a try.
The model was stitched on 28 ct Flax Cashel.
Design Area:210 by 245 stitches, on 28ct the sampler measures 15" x 17.50"
I provided an alternate version for those that want to stitch on Aida. There are 3 initials stitched over one. I had to do some adjusting but it did work out.
Cut Fabric sizes include 3 inches around all sides for finishing;
14/28ct 15" x 17.50" cut fabric 21" x 24"
16/32ct 13.25" x 15.25" cut fabric 19" x 23"
18/36ct 11.75" x 13.75" cut fabric 18" x 20"
20/40ct 10.50" x 12.25" cut fabric 17' x 18"
Thank you and happy stitching!
